analysis/characterization shall be maintained for a period of five years.
C7.3.4.9. Waste Records. Installation will maintain records, identified in C7.3.4. for all
waste streams generated on the installation.
C7.3.5. General Criteria for Special Waste
C7.3.5.1. Segregation of Waste. Waste will be segregated by waste stream at its point
of origin and while in storage (either at the HWAP, TWSA, or WSA). Hazardous waste will also
be segregated from non-hazardous waste.
C7.3.5.2. Landfill Requirements
C7.3.5.2.1. Wastes, including special waste, shall be treated prior to disposal in
landfills except for:
C7.3.5.2.1.1. Inert special waste whose treatment is not technically feasible;
disposed.
C7.3.5.2.2. Special waste shall meet the criteria of the landfill in which it is
C7.3.5.2.3. Any special waste stream directly disposed of in a landfill shall be
analyzed at least annually, and its chemical characteristics reported to the landfill operator.
Waste shall meet the acceptance criteria of the landfill in which it is disposed. The waste
characterization shall include the results of the leaching test.
C7.3.5.3. Construction & Demolition Waste. Construction and demolition waste is a
special waste classified as non-hazardous or hazardous (refer to the USEUCOM Waste List,
waste, shall be disposed of in permitted landfills for inert waste. Hazardous
construction/demolition waste shall be disposed of in permitted landfills for hazardous waste.
C7.3.6. Criteria for Non-Hazardous Special Waste
C7.3.6.1. Waste Storage Containers. Storage containers should be leak-proof,
waterproof, and vermin-proof, including sides, seams, and bottoms and be durable enough to
withstand anticipated usage and environmental conditions without rusting, cracking, or
deforming in a manner that would impair serviceability. Storage containers should have
functional lids.
C7.3.6.2. Waste Container Storage Sites. Containers should be stored on a firm, level,
