<strong>ITALY</strong> - 5 Hazardous Materials<br />

C5.3.3.4. For any hazardous material categorized on the basis of Appendix A of this<br />

FGS, the shipping papers and briefing for the driver include identification of the material in<br />

terms of the nine United Nations (UN) Hazard Classes;<br />

C5.3.3.5. The transport vehicles are subjected to a walk-around inspection by the driver<br />

before and after the hazardous material is loaded; and<br />

C5.3.3.6. Packages are labeled in accordance with paragraph C5.3.7.<br />

C5.3.3.7. Drivers will hold a specific driving license for transport of hazardous<br />

materials in accordance with the Joint Transportation and Traffic Management within the<br />

EUCOM AOR.<br />

C5.3.4. Each installation will maintain a master listing of all storage locations for<br />

hazardous material as well as an inventory of all hazardous materials contained therein. (See<br />

paragraph C18.3.2.)<br />

C5.3.5. Each material safety data sheet (MSDS) shall be in English or the predominant<br />

language in the work place. If Italian workers are present in the workplace the MSDS shall also<br />

be in Italian. MSDS shall contain at least the following information.<br />

C5.3.5.1. The identity used on the label.<br />

C5.3.5.1.1. If the hazardous chemical is a single substance, its chemical and<br />

common name, and its Chemical Abstract Service (CAS) Number.<br />

C5.3.5.1.2. If the hazardous chemical is a mixture which has been tested as a<br />

whole to determine its hazards, the chemical and common name(s) of the ingredients which<br />

contribute to these known hazards, and the common name(s) of the mixture itself; or<br />

whole:<br />

C5.3.5.1.3. If the hazardous chemical is a mixture which has not been tested as a<br />

C5.3.5.1.3.1. The chemical and common name(s) of all ingredients which have<br />

been determined to be health hazards, and which comprise ≥ 1% of the composition, except that<br />

chemicals identified as carcinogens shall be listed if the concentrations are ≥ 0.1%;<br />

C5.3.5.1.3.2. The chemical and common name(s) of all ingredients which have<br />

been determined to be health hazards, and which comprise < 1% (0.1% for carcinogens) of the<br />

mixture, if there is evidence that the ingredient(s) could be released from the mixture in<br />

concentrations which would exceed an established OSHA permissible exposure limit, or could<br />

present a health hazard to employees; and<br />

C5.3.5.1.3.3. The chemical and common name(s) of all ingredients which have<br />

been determined to present a physical hazard when present in the mixture.<br />

C5.3.5.2. Physical and chemical characteristics of the hazardous chemical (such as<br />

vapor pressure, flash point);<br />
