and effluent limits listed in Table 4.1 sixth column (“Discharge to soil”).
C4.3.1.6.4. Wastewater discharges resulting from the processing of natural rocks
or mineral washing if the discharge consists only of water and natural inert material and does not
impact the groundwater or create soil erosion or risk of landslides.
C4.3.1.6.5. Storm water discharges conveyed through a separate sewer system.
C4.3.1.6.6. Waters discharged as a result of water tank overflow, maintenance
activities of the drinking water system, and maintenance of water system wells.
C4.3.1.6.7. Notwithstanding the exceptions identified above, in cases of
discharges of urban and industrial wastewater, the distance to the closest surface water body
shall be greater than the following:
m 3 (17,657 ft 3 )
C4.3.1.6.7.1. Urban wastewater:
C4.3.1.6.7.1.1 1,000 m (3,281 ft) for daily average discharge < 500
C4.3.1.6.7.1.2 2,500 m (8,202 ft) for daily average discharge 501 to
5,000 m 3 (17,692 ft 3 to 176,573 ft 3 )
C4.3.1.6.7.1.3 5,000 m (16,404 ft) for daily average discharge 5,001
to 10,000 m 3 (176,609 ft 3 to 353,147 ft 3 )
m 3 (3,531 ft 3 )
C4.3.1.6.7.2. Industrial wastewater:
C4.3.1.6.7.2.1 1,000 m (3,281 ft) for daily average discharge < 100
C4.3.1.6.7.2.2 2,500 m (8,202 ft) for daily average discharge 101 to
500 m 3 (3,567 ft 3 to 17,657 ft 3 )
C4.3.1.6.7.2.3 5,000 m (16,404 ft) for daily average discharge 501
to 2,000 m 3 (17,692 ft 3 to 70,629 ft 3 )
C4.3.1.6.7.3. Urban and industrial discharges with a daily average
volume > 10,000 m 3 and 2,000 m 3 (353,147 ft 3 and 70,629 ft 3 ) respectively shall be conveyed to
a surface water body or sewer system, or shall be recycled.
C4.3.1.6.7.4. Notwithstanding the exceptions identified above, those
allowable discharges of urban and industrial wastewater to soil shall be conducted in accordance
