BACKGROUKD The BULDING 991 COMPLEX liandles arid stores low-level waste (LLW and<br />

TFG was containers (including uiue ovemack containers (POCs)) <strong>of</strong> various<br />

tmes. All POC containers arc packaeed in robust metal containers that are not<br />

suscmtible to fin damage. Ail <strong>of</strong> the other waste ConLahiers inside the buildings<br />

are metal dnims or metal crates. Wooden LLW ctatcs are uernlitted to be stored<br />

outside <strong>of</strong> the buildings in areas covered bv the Automatic Sprinkler Svstem. The<br />

BUILDING 99'1 COMPLEX also handles and stwes Twe €3 shipaincr containers<br />

holding. SNM for <strong>of</strong>f-site shipment. All SNM containers m packwcd in robust<br />

metal containers that arc not susceDtibk to fire darnme.<br />

plenum demister screen that is actuated bv anv <strong>of</strong> the pftnum heat detectors<br />

repisenna 190°F; 3 a denlister screen located upstream <strong>of</strong> the HEPA filter stwe,<br />

and 3) a manual defuge mscem located after the demister screen but before the<br />

HEPA filter stw c. The build in^ 985 Filtered Exhaust Venaation System<br />

consists <strong>of</strong> mo stages <strong>of</strong> HEPA filters and the plenum contains equivalent<br />

subsvstems to the Building 991 plenum.<br />
