This project owes its success to many people. Several agencies provided us with essential data.
In particular, we would like to thank the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission (AGLC), the
Alberta Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Commission (AADAC), Alberta Health Services, the Office of
the Chief Medical Examiner, the Medicine Hat Police Services, and the Lethbridge Regional

Mayors and community representatives from many cities across the province were very

Consumer Contact, with corporate offices in Toronto, Ontario, conducted both the 2008 and
2009 Alberta Population surveys. A special thanks to Christine Young who was the Project
Manager for these surveys.
Several individuals were involved with data collection and/or tabulation. At the University of
Lethbridge this includes Dr. Ruksana Rashid from the Faculty of Health Sciences, as well as
Maryna Skrynska, Montserrat Villanueva, and Jeff Doherty. Additional assistance was received

Tammie Belanger, Chartered Accountant with Meyers Norris Penny, helped in the production of
spreadsheets and in the interpretation of financial statements. At the University of Alberta,
