Pass at the end of August for ten days running a series of workshops and events<br />

- all kinds of different things to draw the community in and get them talking.<br />

We took the whole theme of space and the space shuttle as a way of engaging<br />

them and talking about space, and talking about their own space. So some of<br />

the images there are from one day we spent making space suits with a group of<br />

kids as a way to engage them to talk about survival and what it takes to survive<br />

in Donegall Pass and what kind of things they need out on the street which is<br />

where those kids spend a large amount of their time. We sent them off to record<br />

sounds of the street and then we broadcast from the Space Shuttle. We also<br />

made a space walk and this was the last day [Video].<br />

9.4 Justin <strong>Marshall</strong><br />

Justin <strong>Marshall</strong>’s practice spans sculpture, installation and design. Much of his<br />

recent work has been ceramic or plaster based, combining traditional skills with<br />

new technologies. <strong>Marshall</strong> is currently Research Fellow in 3D digital<br />

production at University College, Falmouth. His most recent exhibition was at<br />

Das Keramikmuseum Westerwald, Hoehr-Grenzhausen, Germany, and in 2005<br />

he was awarded an Autonomatic research grant to work with Hayles & Howe<br />

decorative plaster company to develop new processes and work.<br />

I’m a research fellow in 3D digital production at Falmouth. I work alongside<br />

Tavs and two other researchers and we are interested in some of the things that<br />

Paul Rodgers mentioned earlier. One particular area of concern is the<br />

connection between the use of digital technologies and craft practices; how new<br />
