Koiner, Lynn
cultural paradigm. The whole enterprise to concretize astrology, to insist that it is a
science, and to pour time and money into research to prove this is simply misdirected.”
His award-winning writing on counseling and astrology has appeared in both
public and professional media in the United States, Ireland, Britain, France, Belgium,
and the Czech Republic.
In addition to being licensed as a clinical counselor with board certification in
clinical mental health and addictions, working in a correctional setting, Kochunas is
also an adjunct instructor in the Department of Religion and Philosophy for Wilmington
College and certified as a professional astrologer by the International Society for
Astrological Research. He is a member of the Association for Astrological Networking,
the Ohio Counseling Association, and the Ohio Association for Spiritual, Ethical
and Religious Values in Counseling.
KOINER, LYNN
Lynn Koiner has been a full-time professional astrologer since June 1969 and a professional
member of the American Federation of Astrologers (AFA). She had the opportunity
to study directly with Ernest Grant, cofounder of the AFA, and he was her
sponsor into this organization in 1969.
Since 1984, she has published an astrological quarterly, the Amethyst, dedicated
to current astrological trends, planetary cycles, and how they affect the individual
personally. From 1994 through 1999, she served as vice president and president of the
National Council for Geocosmic Research in Baltimore, Maryland, and she currently
serves as newsletter editor for both the Baltimore and Annapolis chapters. With a
research specialty since 1972 on Transpluto, she was a contributing author on this
topic in Noel Tyl’s Astrology’s Special Measurements.
Koiner’s primary areas of research include: medical topics; the Solar Max and
its impact upon human behavior; the Nelson Model and solar activity; the phenomena
of UFO abductees; esoteric astrology (A. A. Bailey) and the fixed stars discussed by
Bailey; Transpluto; and Venus transits (an astronomical term for a rare phenomena
when Venus crosses the face of the Sun).
Since the 1970s, Koiner has been examining the psychological patterns shown
in the horoscope as connected with specific diseases. The philosophy is that correcting
a problematic personality characteristic can impact recovery or prevent onset. The
first disease research was blood sugar disorders and some of this research was published
in Tyl’s book. Subsequent areas of research have been auto-immune system,
Alzheimer’s disease, respiratory system, skin, addiction (obesity), and Irritable Bowel
Syndrome. In July 2000, Koiner received the Sims Pounds Jr. Award from the American
Federation of Astrologers for her research lectures on medical astrology.
Since 1999, Koiner has been working and consulting with members of the scientific
community (physicists and astronomers). There has been much research conducted
in the realm of traditional science that can be incorporated into astrological
studies. In this area, she has been examining the data on earthquakes. The Society for
Scientific Exploration has been one of the bridging scientific organizations.
