Appendix A: Reading Your Own Astrology Chart
Sun Conjunct Mars: You are very motivated, with a strong drive and urge to do and accomplish.
Others could find you a bit pushy. With an eye to progress and the future, you feel compelled
to try for what is just out of your reach. You support authority in all forms.
Sun Opposite Mars: Your drive and ambition may tend to be counterproductive or work
against your own best interest at times. You may feel challenged and competitive with authority
figures. Your feelings and emotions can get out of control, go against your will.
Sun Trine, Sextile, or Semi-sextile Mars: A natural ability to use emotions in productive
ways. Entertaining others is one form this might take. Hard work and all things physical (such
as sports and outdoor activities) should be a snap. You are able to manage and see how to work
with the energy of others.
Sun Square, Semi-square, or Sesqui-square Mars: Your drive to succeed is strong, but you
often push yourself in a direction against your own best interests. Your ambitions may find you
at odds with authority figures again and again. A tendency towards arguments and emotional
drama exists.
Sun Conjunct Jupiter: Probably always popular with others and at home in the crowd, you
tend to radiate success. Others may value the fact that you can always manage to unravel even
the worst problems for them. You could benefit from older people or those in authority.
Sun Opposite Jupiter: You could find yourself pursuing options and paths that end up leading
away from your own best interests. Your particular solutions to problems may go against, or
prove challenging for, those in authority. Your methods may provoke the establishment.
Sun Trine, Sextile, or Semi-sextile Jupiter: You have a sense of justice and an innate ability
to understand the law, whether natural or manmade. Showing others the way through or
beyond the problems in their lives comes easy, for you sense how to manipulate the opportunities
of life. Lucky.
Sun Square, Semi-square, or Sesqui-square Jupiter: You may tend to take paths at right
angles to your real ambitions and self-interest. Trouble with authorities or older people can
result. Your struggle to succeed is aided when you show self-control or discipline and find that
middle road.
Sun Conjunct Saturn: You could be a bit too serious for most, but all would agree that you are
organized and able to take care of business. You may seem older than you are, and probably
treat authority and the law with great respect. Very disciplined, perhaps too sober.
Sun Opposite Saturn: Your sense of order and discipline could, at times, prove to be counterproductive
and work against your own better interests. You may feel that others (such as partners
or friends) hold you back from organizing your life the way you want.
Sun Trine, Sextile, or Semi-sextile Saturn: There is a real love of science and natural laws.
