MATUTINE (MATUTINAL)<br />

Stars that rise in <strong>the</strong> early morning before <strong>the</strong><br />

Sun are referred to as matutine. The planets,<br />

particularly <strong>the</strong> Moon, Mercury, and Venus, can<br />

be matutinal.<br />

MEAN MOTION<br />

Because celestial bodies move in elliptical<br />

orbits, <strong>the</strong>ir speed varies depending upon <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

location. Mean motion refers to <strong>the</strong>ir average<br />

speed.<br />

emotions. Jacob Schwartz gives Medea’s astrological influence as “intense emotions<br />
