The OGD vice directors oversee a number <strong>of</strong> administrative sections.<br />

Although the exact number and identification <strong>of</strong> these sections has never been made<br />

public, some <strong>of</strong> the more notable include the Inspection Section and the Party<br />

Registration Section. The Inspection Section is responsible for inspecting any anti-<br />

Party, non-Party, undisciplined, or unreasonable activities that develop within the<br />

regime or leadership <strong>of</strong> the Party. It reports directly to the Supreme Leader. It<br />

is strictly separated from other sections and is feared by all <strong>North</strong> <strong>Korean</strong> Party<br />

members and <strong>of</strong>ficials.<br />

ii. Role in the Regime<br />

In 2015, the OGD is the source <strong>of</strong> much controversy within the Pyongangwatching<br />

community. It is believed by some to be the power behind the throne,<br />

using the death <strong>of</strong> Jang Song-taek to claw back influence it had lost in the last years<br />
