A shooter is an enemy that fires a<br />

projectile. Shooting patrollers and<br />

chasers will fire at the player once<br />

they ’ ve been spotted. Due to the<br />

nature of the attack, this enemy<br />

will try to keep distance between<br />

itself and the player rather than<br />

engage them.<br />

A guard is an enemy whose AI priority is to guard an item or location (like a<br />

doorway) rather than actively pursue the player. Guard behavior can be<br />

easily combined with chasing or shooting if the player manages to steal the<br />

item or get past the guard.<br />

A fl yer is an enemy that, well … flies.<br />

They are aerial patrollers but because<br />

the flying adds another dimension<br />

(literally) to the movement, they<br />

deserve their own classification.<br />

Flyers can swoop down to attack<br />

players or you can have them fire<br />

projectiles from a safe distance.<br />

Flyers are more advanced enemies,<br />

as their movement and attack<br />

patterns are more difficult for the<br />

player to predict. Players trying to<br />

attack flyers usually stop to target or<br />

make a jump attack.
