Note :-<br />

(1) <strong>Police</strong> officers holding temporary posts will be in the same grade as those holding permanent<br />

posts of similar status.<br />

(2) <strong>Police</strong> officers officiating in a post will be in the grade of the post which they officiate. A Deputy<br />

Superintendent of <strong>Police</strong> officiating as Superintendent is specially included in grade III.<br />

(3) Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents of <strong>Police</strong> will, when travelling by rail, be entitled<br />

to accommodation by first class irrespective of their pay.<br />

(4) Inspectors and European Sergeants of <strong>Police</strong> will, when travelling by rail, be entitled to accommodation<br />

by second class irrespective of their pay.<br />

(5) Constables will receive 6 annas as daily allowance, if they travel in more than one province.<br />

(6) Ordinary and Special Hill tracts are defined notes to Rule 2.20, <strong>Punjab</strong> Financial Hand Book<br />

No. 2, <strong>Volume</strong> III.<br />

(7) The mileage allowance admissible to Government servants of grade I to IV for journeys by<br />

road shall be 4 annas per mile when the journey is performed by motor car and Rs. 0-16 per<br />

mile when the journey is performed by motor cycle. The mileage allowance admissible to<br />

Government servants of grades V to IX for journeys performed by motor cycle will be Re 0-<br />

1-6 per mile. The nature of the conveyance used must be certified on the travelling<br />

allowance bill presented for payment.<br />

(8) For the purpose of travelling allowance "Pay" is as defined in Fundamental <strong>Rules</strong>, Chapter II.<br />

(9) Members of the <strong>Police</strong> clerical cadre are entitled to travelling allowance of the grade to which<br />

they belong under the above table according to their rate of pay, and subject to the provisions<br />

of Appendices J and K of the Travelling Allowance <strong>Rules</strong>.<br />

(10) <strong>Police</strong> officers of grades II, III, IV and V may draw enhanced daily allowance of Rs. 9, Rs.<br />

78, Rs. 6 and Rs. 4 per diem, respectively for journeys and halts on tour in the plains, provided<br />

that -<br />

(a) the conditions that would entitled them to draw ordinary daily allowance are satisfied.<br />

(b) the absence from headquarters exceed 72 hours.<br />

(c) the enhanced daily allowance is not drawn in addition of mileage allowance.
