will accord administrative approval if the cost involved does not exceed Rs. 1,000 otherwise<br />

he will forward the proposal to the Inspector-General for administrative approval.<br />

When the proposal has been approved, the Electrical Engineer to Government shall be<br />

asked to prepare detailed plans and estimates with a view to the allotment of funds.<br />

(2) Proposals for the installation of electric lights and fans in residential buildings shall<br />

also be submitted, accompanied by a rough plan showing where the lights and fans are to<br />

be installed and a rough estimate of the cost involved, to the Deputy Inspector-General<br />

who will obtain the administrative approval of the Electrical Engineer to Government if<br />

the cost involved does not exceed Rs. 100; otherwise he will forward the proposal to the<br />

Inspector General for obtaining the administrative approval of the Provincial Government<br />

in the Public Works Department.<br />

Rule 3.25<br />

[3.25. Scale of provision of electric light and fans. - (1) Fans will be sanctioned for<br />

the offices of (a) Deputy Inspector-General of <strong>Police</strong>, (b) Assistant Inspector-General,<br />

Government Railway <strong>Police</strong>, (c) Superintendents of <strong>Police</strong>, including those incharge of<br />

<strong>Punjab</strong> Armed <strong>Police</strong>, (d) Deputy Superintendents of <strong>Police</strong>, incharge of Sub-Divisions,<br />

(e) Deputy Superintendents of <strong>Police</strong>/Gazetted Officers, incharge of C.I.D. offices, (f)<br />

<strong>Police</strong> Radio Stations, (g) Sub-Inspectors in <strong>Police</strong> Station, (h) Messes, (i) Recreation<br />

rooms, (j) Officer-in-charge, <strong>Police</strong> Recruits Training Centre, Jehan Khelan and (k) Reserve<br />

Inspector/Lines Officers of <strong>Police</strong> lines.<br />

Fans will not be provided at Government cost in the quarters of non-gazetted establishment,<br />

but wall plugs for fans may be provided at Government expense in residences,<br />

where electric lighting installation only (as contrasted with fans) has been allowed, to enable<br />

tenants to draw current to drive electric fans provided at their own expense. No table<br />

fans will be supplied in residences provided by the Government and its use should also<br />

be avoided in Government offices.<br />

(2) Electric light where available will be sanctioned in all <strong>Police</strong> buildings, including<br />

married quarters. Occupiers of rent-free buildings are not required to pay rent for the installation<br />

of electricity, but they shall pay charges for the energy consumed and for the<br />

hire of meter.] 1<br />

Rule 3.26<br />

3.26. <strong>Police</strong> rest-house. - (1) When police rest-houses are not being occupied by officers<br />

of the department, they may be used by gazetted officers of any other department by<br />

the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of District Board and by a District Engineer, whose duties<br />

require them to visit the localities in which such rest-houses are situated on the<br />

understanding that an officer of the <strong>Police</strong> Department has a prior claim to the accommodation<br />

available. The occupation of police rest-houses extends only to an officer and his<br />

wife and not to their family or members of their party without the written permission of<br />

the Superintendent of <strong>Police</strong> concerned, and then only on the understanding stated above.<br />

(2) A list of the furniture and other articles, supplied for the use of the building, shall<br />

be hung in every police building, and shall be countersigned by the Superintendent.<br />

(3) The rest-houses having been constructed primarily for the convenience of officers<br />

who follow the European manner of living, their use is not permitted to officers of any department,<br />

who follow non-European customs in regard to meals, cooking and the use of<br />

furniture.<br />

Rule 3.27<br />

3.27. For rules regarding the occupation of Public Works Department rest houses<br />
