The key factors in the development of tourism in this region:
1. Safety & security that all tourists can feel when visiting the region.
2. The rich cultural heritage that this region enjoys which will help in generating
increased cultural tourism to this region.
3. A unique diversity of natural resources which varies from green mountains to
deep fertile valleys and plains and the vast desert. Added to this beautiful
landscape are the sandy golden beaches on the Mediterranean and the nice
moderate weather, all of which offer visitors an endless source of joy.
4. The traditional hospitality and friendliness of the people.
The most important indicator in measuring the integration of tourism into this
region is the warmness and kindliness by which all tourists can be received.
The lessons which could be applied in other Mediterranean
areas
Priorities should be given to encouraging investment in order to develop tourism
industry in this region as well as more efforts should be taken to preserve cultural
heritage and customs.
The criteria to choose this region as a relevant example are:
1. Preserving the natural resources and environment.
2. The historical man-made sites are well preserved and never been touched by
the modern complicated technologies.
3. The traditional hospitality of the people as well as their good instinct by which
they receive the tourists.
This example represents a partial success in terms of local sustainable
development that needs improving and developing infrastructure and services.
