Results of the questionnaires<br />

Organisme National du Tourisme (E.O.T) : institution publique<br />

chargée de l’application des politiques de tourisme.<br />

Régions : décentralisation en cours.<br />

Turquie The State Planning Organisation (SPO, undersecretariat of<br />

Prime Ministry of Turkey) is responsible for the preparation of<br />

5 year Development Plan and yearly implementation programs<br />

for public sector investments. The basic policy decisions for<br />

tourism sector is stated in 5 year Development Plan. The SPO<br />

is also responsible for the yearly programs, high level coordination<br />

and budget allocation.<br />

Chypre<br />

Ministry of Tourism has central, provincial and overseas units<br />

and is responsible for :<br />

• providing infrastructures and public services in accordance with the<br />

yearly implementation programs,<br />

• elaboration and approval of land use plans,<br />

• promotion of the country abroad,<br />

• realisation of search and statistical data<br />

• vocational training in tourism<br />

• environmental and protection issues<br />

• follow up the intervention of governmental bodies, local administration,<br />

professional associations, unions, NGO.<br />

Municipalities have a very limited contribution to the healthy<br />

development of tourism.<br />

The Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) was established and<br />

it operates according to the CTO Law of 1969-1995. The aim of<br />

the CTO is the organisation and promotion of tourism in the<br />

Republic of Cyprus, through the utilisation of all-existing<br />

possibilities and resources.<br />

On July 1996, the Council of Ministers approved a set of<br />

measures, aiming at confronting the problems the Cyprus<br />

tourism is facing, the strengthening of Cyprus competitiveness,<br />

as well as a three year Action Plan for the construction of<br />

projects for the general and tourist infrastructure, and the<br />

resumption of specific measures for the improvement of the<br />

infrastructure and the image of Cyprus.<br />

The Tourism Consultative Committee was formed after the<br />

decision of the CTO Board of Directors. Members of the<br />

Committee are representatives from all the agencies associated<br />

to the tourist sector. The Committee has a consultative role to<br />

the Board of the CTO and its aim is to contribute towards the<br />

promotion of various issues concerning tourism. Among others,<br />

the Committee dealt recently with issues relating to the<br />

development of the Code of Environmental Behaviour in<br />

Tourism.<br />
