We assist the mayors in providing a
framework and a structure on four fronts: 1)
to develop a common vision for their communities
throughout Nunavik; 2) to set priorities
and determine the resources to be funded
with the support and contribution of all organizations;
3) to insure that Inuit culture,
language, history and core values are the
basis for the proposed solutions that are developed
with the mayors; and 4) to implement
an action plan that addresses the concerns
voiced at the 2005 symposium Leading the
way for our Children and the follow-up of recommendations
of the 2007 Quebec Human
Rights Commission Report on Nunavik Youth.
Family centres pilot project
Kuujjuaraapik’s municipal council has asked the Regional
Partnership Committee for help to start developing a family centre
pilot project. The council will request funding from Ungaluk to hire
a Local Partnership Committee agent to work with our Regional
Partnership Committee coordinator to take the necessary steps
to develop this project.
Dr. Johanne Morel, a paediatrician who has been working
with Nunavik for many years, is working with us to realize this
project. It is our hope that this pilot project, once realized, will
serve as an example to other communities to develop similar

et une structure aux maires afin de
réaliser quatre objectifs principaux :
1) élaborer une vision commune pour
toutes les communautés du Nunavik,
2) fixer les priorités et déterminer les
ressources qui seront financées avec le
soutien et les contributions de tous les
organismes, 3) s’assurer que la culture,
la langue, l’histoire et les valeurs fondamentales
des Inuits servent de
fondement aux solutions élaborées de
concert avec les maires, et 4) mettre en
œuvre un plan d’action qui réponde
aux préoccupations exprimées lors
du symposium « Tracer la voie pour
nos enfants » tenu en 2005 et dans le
« Rapport sur les services de protection de la jeunesse du Nunavik »
de la Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la
jeunesse du Québec.
Projet pilote de centres pour la famille
Le conseil municipal de Kuujjuaraapik a sollicité l’aide du
Comité de partenariat régional pour la création d’un premier
centre pour la famille. Le conseil espère obtenir d’Ungaluk les
fonds nécessaires pour embaucher un agent local qui travaillera
