This move has significantly reduced the size of Nasittuq’s office space and they also operate more efficiently. There was a fuel spill at the BAF-3 radar site this year caused by a ruptured fuel tank. The cause was metal fatigue compounded by environmental conditions. These types of incidents can be expected from an ageing infrastructure operating within changing environmental conditions. Nasittuq immediately inspected several other sites with similar configurations to reduce the risk of future fuel tank ruptures.
