In past years, the justice committees
in Aupaluk, Kangir suk,
Kuujjuaraapik, Inukjuak Puvirnituq,
Quaqtaq and Salluit signed a protocol
agreement in alternative measures for
adults with the Ministry of Justice and
the Attorney General, allowing adult
cases to be diverted to them.
The justice committees in
Kangiqsualujjuaq and Kan giqsujuaq
are at an early establishment stage
and the committee in Kuujjuaq is also
in a developmental stage, since new
members had to be found and trained.
Therefore, these justice committees are slowly getting involved
in cases again.
Justice committees in Kangirsuk, Kuujjuaraapik and Salluit
are meeting some clients and supporting them in correctional
sentences, probation and self-referral. The justice committees
in Aupaluk, Inukjuak and Puvirnituq are quite active and are
meeting clients regularly and getting referrals from different
interveners of the judicial and correctional services. Meanwhile,
Quaqtaq’s justice committee was recreated last September and
the local coordinator and the new members will need training
before they become operational.
Au cours des dernières
années, les comités de justice
d’Aupaluk, Kangirsuk,
Kuujjuaraapik, Inukjuak,
Puvirnituq, Quaqtaq et
Salluit ont signé avec le
MJQ et le Procureur général
des protocoles d’entente
portant sur les mesures de
rechange afin que des dossiers
d’adultes puissent leur
être confiés.
Les comités de justice
de Kangiqsualujjuaq et
Kangiqsujuaq sont en phase préliminaire de développement.
La situation est assez semblable à Kuujjuaq où il a fallu recruter
et former de nouveaux membres. Par conséquent, ces comités
de justice recommencent peu à peu à recevoir de nouveaux cas.
Les comités de justice de Kangirsuk, Kuujjuaraapik et Salluit soutiennent
certains clients ayant reçu des sentences correctionnelles
et de probation ou se présentant à eux de manière spontanée.
Les comités de justice d’Aupaluk, Inukjuak et Puvirnituq sont
très actifs et reçoivent de manière régulière des clients dirigés
vers eux par divers intervenants judiciaires et correctionnels. Le
comité de justice de Quaqtaq a été remis sur pied en septembre,
et il faudra offrir de la formation au coordonnateur local et aux
membres du comité avant qu’il ne soit de nouveau en fonction.
