kevert föld volt, a sarokmedencék közötti
szondákban pedig az újkori kerámiával,
illetve vörösmárvány-törmelékkel kevert
rétegek tartalmaztak nagymennyiségű
késővaskori kerámiát és állatcsontot.
A leletanyag rétegtani helyzete és a
rétegek jellegzetességei azt mutatják, hogy
a török fürdő építésekor az ugyanott lévő
késő La Tène kori településmaradványokat
rejtő talajt használták fel a tereprendezési
és az alapozási munkákhoz. A Rudas fürdő
régészeti kutatásai során a másodlagos
helyzetben talált kelta kerámiaanyag főbb
típusai: grafi tos-fésűs fazekak, megvastagodó
peremű hombárok, élesprofi lú tálak,
besimított rácsmintával díszített fazekak
töredékei, valamint vörös sávos festésű
edénytöredékek. (MB)
Celtic ceramics and animal bones were
found in a thick layer of ashes and charcoal
mixed with limestone rubble under the
terrazzo fl oor of the 18 th century in the
rooms lying northwest of the hall beneath
the dome. Under the fi ll layer comprising
remains from the La Tène period settlement,
we found a dense concentration of
posts that served as a foundation for the
Turkish bath.
The soil was also mixed with Celtic ceramics
between the wooden posts under
the central large basin of the hall beneath
the dome (room no. 18). In the test
trenches deepened between the corner
basins, layers mixed with modern ceramics
and fragments of red marble contained
a large number of Late Iron Age ceramics
and animal bones.
The stratigraphic position and the
characteristics of the fi nds show that the
soil containing the settlement remains
from the late La Tène period was used for
landscaping and during foundation work
when the Turkish bath was constructed.
The main types in the Celtic fi nd material
found in a secondary position during
the archaeological investigation of the
Rudas bath were as follows: fragments of
graphite-broomed pots, storage jars with
thickened rims, bowls with sharp profi les,
pots decorated with smoothed-in lathe
ornaments and shards with red striped
painting. (BM)
