of Szigetszentmiklós-Üdülősor. The authenticating
excavation of the two houses
on the territory of the future sewage plant
and the rest of the features that chronologically
belong here (except the ash pit of
the oven) imply a rather loosely structured
hamlet-like settlement with dwellings
situated at relatively large distances from
each other. It is also possible that some
other, similar features will be discovered
in the course of the construction of the
waterworks.
The ceramic material recovered from
these features date to the AD 8 th century.
After the end of the test excavations on
the territory of the Csepel-Sewage Plant
conducted by the Budapest Historical
Museum in 2004 it became evident that
archaeological sites (cemeteries and
settlements) from different periods can
defi nitely be identifi ed at different spots.
Their exact extent, however, could not be
determined because of the several metres
thick fi ll covering the area.
Further archaeological fi nds can be
expected based on what has so far been
found. Due to the historical and archaeological
importance of the recovered fi nds,
they will need to be unearthed before the
construction of the sewage plant can begin.
