ezüst pénze alapján a 12. század közepére
tehető. A 10 méter hosszú, 6 méter széles
félköríves szentélyzáródású templomból
a legalsó felmenő kváder kősor maradt
meg. A templomtól nyugatra, a nyugati
fallal párhuzamosan hasonló szerkezetű
fal került elő. Felmerült, hogy a későbbi
templom nyugati karzatalapozása lenne,
de a szintadatok vizsgálata után valószínűbbnek
látszik, hogy az első periódus
tornyához tartozott. A 13. század elején a
templomot 7 méterrel nyugat felé megtoldották.
A templom építészeti elemeinek
vizsgálatát Győző Eszter művészettörténész
végzi. A falakon belül és kívül kisebb
nagyobb gödrök kerültek elő, bennük
néhány jellegtelen középkori kerámián
kívül nagy mennyiségű megmunkált kő, és
építészeti elem volt. A gödrök funkciója
egyelőre kérdéses, elképzelhetőnek tarthatjuk
azonban, hogy a falu elpusztulása,
és az épület felhagyása után, rablógödröket
ástak a falak mellé.
A templom körül 1078 sír került elő 2–3
rétegben. Ebből közel négyszáz falazott
sír. (18. kép) A sírgödröt kibélelő kövek
fl oors nor traces of an entrance were identifi
ed. Each house had an oven, usually
located in the southeast corner. Two types
wee identifi ed; a constructed stone oven
and a very small hearth cut into the wall of
the house. Neither type was plastered.
Numerous ditch fragments of various
lengths were found, characteristic
of Avar settlements. The largest, broad
ditch system with sevperiodl branches
intersected the entire settlement in a
northwest–southeast direction. Given its
size, it may have marked the border of
the settlement although it rather seems
to have functioned as a drain since Avar
features were found on both sides of the
ditch. As opposed to settlements unearthed
so far, here we could not observe
ditches around the houses (BÓNA 1973,
64–65). Super-positions rarely occurred at
the Late Avar settlement. The ones that
were observed included features from the
Late Avar period and the 10 th century.
The majority of the fi nds were cperiodmic
shards. The baking bell fragments
and the fragments of vessels made on slow
