Until now the earliest occurenceof the<br />

latter legume came from a AD 5 th century<br />

level at Keszthely-Fenékpuszta. From<br />

among the food remains, The remains of<br />

grain mush (features 91 and 181) and leavened<br />

bread (feature no. 169) were found<br />

among the remains of food. The other<br />

plant species present refl ect the closer<br />

natural environment of the settlement.<br />

The great bulrush implies a reed-belt, the<br />

occurrence of Heleocharis palustris indicates<br />

a higher elevation, while the large<br />

number of specimens of cheese-rennet,<br />

rib-grass and black nonsuch speak to a<br />

drier meadow or pasture environment.<br />

Further investments and consequent<br />

archaeological excavations can be expected<br />

in connection with the development<br />

of the Savoya park on the western part of<br />

the Albertfalva vicus, thus, enriching our<br />

archaeological knowledge of this area.<br />
