nagyszámú gödrét tár tuk fel. Ezek az
ob jektumok, bár számos kisebb formai
eltérést is mutattak, betöltésük és leleteik
(a gödör al jára he lyezett, többnyire
tudatosan összetört edények, őrlőkövek,
égetésnyomok, obszidián pen gék és szin te
minden esetben a gödörbe szánt szándékkal
helyezett, nagy mennyiségű csigaház)
alap ján kultikus gödrök voltak. (7. kép) Az
árok által határolt felületen sem profánnak
ne vez he tő gödröt, sem lakóépület nyomát
nem találtuk. A korszak ilyen jellegű településnyomai
az Árpád-ko ri templomtól
délkeletre feküdtek egy meglehetősen kis
felületen. Meg jegy zen dő, hogy középső
rézkori kul tusz gödrök ezen a területen is
voltak, sőt feltártunk ilyeneket az ásatási
terület délke leti sarkában is, több száz
méternyire, délkeletre. Az egykorú objektumok
szóródása a feldolgozottság mai
szintjén még nem magyarázható. Kiemelkedő
jelentőségű, hogy az árkon belüli
kultuszgödrök között olyan objektumok
is voltak, amelyekben a Ludanice kultúrával
egykorú, de a Kárpát-medencén

edge. The graves contained very poorly
preserved human bones and vessels. In
one of the graves lay fragments of seven
or eight vessels, ofwhich only two could
be rescued. The southern coherent feature
complex of the Neolithic settlement
could be entirely unearthed over a surface
of six hectares. Finds from the same period
can be expected north of the railway
as well.
People avoided this side of the stream
from the end of the Middle Neolithic to
the beginning of the Middle Copper Age.
This fi rst settlement hiatus embraces the
entire length of the Lengyel culture including
the initial phase of its evolution.
A site of the Middle Copper Age
Ludanice culture lay in an east–northeast
direction from the Neolithic settlement.
The most signifi cant representative of the
culture is a circular ditch running along
the northern edge of the excavation territory
(Fig. 6). It had a diameter of 220 m, a
of 130 cm and a width measuring 200 cm.
It had vertical walls and a fl at bottom (!).
We could document perhaps half of its
