A Bécsi út – Föld utca sarkán található telek
területén a Propszt Kft. megbízásából
másfél hónapos építkezést megelőző feltárást
folytattunk. A kutatások elsősorban
a telek keleti részére tervezett mélygarázs,
csatornaaknák és liftakna területét érintették,
mivel a telek többi részén az ala pozás
csak újkori feltöltést bolygatott.
A legkorábbi megtelepülés nyomait
a mélygarázs alapozása alá nyúló zsompokban
és az építkezéssel napvilágra
kerülő bombák hatástalanítására ásott
gödör metszetében nyílt lehetőségünk
megfi gyelni. A lemélyítésekkel elértük azt
a fekete tömör agyagos réteget, amelyből
leletanyag már nem került elő. Ebbe a rétegbe
mélyült egy, a bombának ásott árok
keleti metszetében megfi gyelt hegyes végű
karó. Több hasonló karó nyomát nem
találtuk. A zsompoknál a fekete agyagos
rétegre váltakozva rózsaszín és fekete
hamus-faszenes római kori rétegeket planíroztak.
Az égéstermékekből álló rétegek
jelenlétére a Kiscelli utcai kerámiaműhely
(NAGY 1937, 268, NAGY 1942, 627–629,
PÓCZY 1956, 78–90, PARRAGI 1971,
KIRCHHOF 2002, 144, KIRCHHOF
2003, 53–54) közelsége adhat magyarázatot.
A kutatás által érintett területen
több ponton is lehetőségünk nyílt ezeket
a rétegeket megfi gyelni, ami valószínűsíti,
hogy a telek keleti felében nagyobb felü-

On the territory of the lots on the corner
of Bécsi Road and Föld Street, we conducted
excavations over one and a half
months at the commission of Propszt Kft.
The investigations primarily extended
over the territory of the deep parking
garage, the channel shafts and the elevator
shaft in the eastern part of the garage,
since elsewhere the foundation disturbed
only modern fi ll.
The traces of the earliest settlement
could be observed in the standages extending
under the foundation of the
deep parking garage and in the sections
of the pit dug in order to defuse the
bombs that had been uncovered during
the construction. In the pits we reached
the black, compact clayey layer from which
no archaeological fi nds were recovered. A
pointed post was sunk into this layer. It
was observed in the eastern section of a
pit dug to defuse a bomb. We could not
fi nd traces of more posts. In the standages,
pink layers and black ashy Roman
layers containing charcoal were alternately
deposited on top of the black clayey layer.
The presence of layers of burnt materials
can be explained by the proximity of the
pottery in Kiscelli Street (NAGY 1937,
268, NAGY 1942, 627–629, PÓCZY 1956,
78–90, PARRAGI 1971, KIRCHHOF
2002, 144, KIRCHHOF 2003, 53–54). We
