félékhez köthető gyomnövények (pl. héla
zab, vetési galaj, szulákkeserűfű) mutathatók
ki. A római objektumokból begyűjtött
földmintákból összesen 48 növényfajt
sikerült kimutatni az anyagvizsgálat során.
A termesztett növények zömét a gabonafélék
(árpa, búza, abrakzab, rozs, köles)
teszik ki. A gabonaszemek mennyisége
és magas százalékos aránya arra mutat,
hogy a gabonatermesztés meghatározó
jelentőségű volt az auxiliáris vicus mezőgazdasági
életében. A gabonagyomok
alapján megállapítható, hogy a lakosság
inkább őszi vetésű gabonákat termesztett.
A konyhakerti hüvelyes növényeket a mezei
borsó, cicorlencse és a fejlettebb római
növénytermesztésre utaló, nemesebb
nagymagvú lencse képviselte. Ez utóbbi
eddigi legkorábbi hazai előfordulása
Keszthely-Fenékpuszta 5. századi rétegéből
volt ismert. Ételmaradványok közül a
gabonakása (91. és 181. obj.), köleskása
(181. obj.) és kelesztett kenyér (169. obj.)
maradványai jelentkeztek. A település
szűkebb természetes környezetéről nyújtanak
információkat egyes további fajok.
Pl. a tavi káka nádasra, a mocsári csetkáka
jelenléte magassásos környezetre utal, míg
a nagyobb darabszámban jelen lévő tejoltó
galaj, lándzsás útifű és komlós lucerna szárazabb
rétre, legelőre enged következtetni.
Az albertfalvi vicus nyugati részein a
Savoya park kiépülése kapcsán további
beruházások, ezzel együtt régészeti feltárások
várhatók, amelyektől a régészeti
ismeretanyag további bővülését várjuk.
Albertfalva vicus. The shapes, directions
and measurements of the ditches were
diverse just like the determination of
their function. In some cases it was suggested
that the ditches were associated
with the marching fort or the practice
fi eld while other ditches were identifed as
water channels for the draining of swamps
(SZIRMAI 2000; SZIRMAI 2002; SZIR-
MAI 2003; SZIRMAI 2004). This year a
small east–west running ditch came to
light at the eastern end of the excavation
surface (feature no. 220). The ditch had a
rounded bottom and the observable width
was only 40 cm. The morphological specifics
and the lack of militaria exclude the
possibility that it had had a military function.
It may rather be described as a water
channel or ditch that demarcated a lot.
We collected soil samples from twelve
of the Roman period (and La Tène D)
features, of which Ferenc Gyulai identifi
ed and evaluated the archaeobotanical
material. The detailed analytical results
will be summed up in the following.
Cereals (millet, barley, emmer and
spelt), legumes (pea) and weeds, especially
autumn cereals (e.g. wild oats, bedstraw,
black bindweed), could be demonstrated
among the plant remains found in the
beehive-shaped storage pit no. 9 of La
Tène D age. The analysis demonstrated
altogether 48 plant species. Cereals (barley,
wheat, oats, rye and millet) comprised
the majority of cultivated plants. The
quantity and the high proportion of cereal
seeds suggest that crop cultivation was
most important in the agricultural life of
the auxiliary vicus. The cereal traces reveal
that autumn cereals were preferred. Peas,
lentils and the more refi ned large-seeded
lentil, evidence of the more developed
Roman cultivation, represent the legumes.
