Feltárások az
Aranyhegyi-patak menti
temetőben

2004. szeptember 13. és november 12. között
szondázó jellegű és hitelesítő ásatást
végeztünk az Óbudai Pályaudvar közelében,
az úgynevezett az Aranyhegyi-patak
menti római temetőben, a Budapesti
Fővárosi Önkormányzat megbízásából.
A munkákat a tervezett Aquincumi Duna
Hídhoz kapcsolódó úthálózat tervezése
tette szükségessé.
Az úgynevezett Aranyhegyi-patak
menti temető az aquincumi polgárváros
nyugati temetője, régóta ismert lelőhely.
Az esztergomi vasút építésekor 1895–96
körül számos sír került elő. Nagy Lajos
folytatott itt ásatásokat 1926–29 között,
mintegy 50 kő sírépítményt és sírkertet és
266, zömmel hamvasztásos temetkezést
tárva fel. A sírok nagy része a késő Flavius-kortól
a 2. század közepéig keltezhető,
de előkerült itt néhány 3. század eleji temetkezés
is. A temető leletanyaga néhány
rövid résztanulmányt leszámítva (NAGY
L. 1942, 465–468; 476–479) publikálatlan
maradt. Sajnos az ásatás szinte teljes
dokumentációja elveszett, mindössze
két, Nagy Lajos által tartott előadás kézirata
és a temető összesítő rajza maradt
ránk. 1956-ban Kaba Melinda kisebb
feltárásokat végzett a Nagy Lajos által
feltárt terület közepén, 1978-ban pedig
az Aranyárok déli oldalán tárt fel további
sírkerteket, bizonyítva, hogy a temető déli

on the Aranyhegyi Stream

Test and authenticating excavations were
conducted in the so-called Roman cemetery
on the Aranyhegyi Stream near the
Óbuda railway station, commissioned by
the City government of the capital city
of Budapest between September 13 and
November 12, 2004. The planning of the
road system linked to the future Aquincum
Danube Bridge made the excavations
necessary.
The so-called cemetery on the Aranyhegyi
Stream has long been recognized
as it is the western cemetery of the Civil
Town of Aquincum. A number of graves
were found during construction of the
Esztergom railway around 1895–1896.
Lajos Nagy conducted excavations here
between 1926 and 1929. He unearthed
about 50 stone tombs and graveyards as
well as 266 mostly cremation burials.
Most of the graves date from the Late
Flavian period to the middle of the AD
2 nd century, although a few burials were
also discovered from the beginning of the
AD 3 rd century. The fi nd material from the
cemetery has not been published apart
from a few partial studies (NAGY L. 1942,
465–468; 476–479). Regrettably, nearly the
entire documentation of the excavation
has been lost with only the manuscripts
of two lectures given by Lajos Nagy and
the summary map of the cemetery pre-
