irányban is lezártnak tekinthetjük. Nagy
a valószínűsége tehát, hogy a jövő év során
a teljes telep feltárására lehetőségünk
nyílik. Lelőhelyünk azon túl, hogy a pár
évtizede megkezdődött telepkutatásokhoz
nyújt újabb eredményeket, a 9–10. század
régészeti és történeti kérdéseit is érinti. A
telep területén ugyanis 10. századi objektumok
is kerültek elő, és nem egy esetben
szuperpozíciót is meg tudtunk fi gyelni
a késő avar és a 10. századi objektumok
kö zött. A 9–10. század településtörténeti
változásaival kapcsolatos megfi gyeléseket
is tehettünk: az ásatás eddigi eredményei
azt mutatják, hogy az avar objektumok
nagyjából egyenlő arányban fordultak elő
a laposabb és a magasabb fekvésű területeken.
Ellentétben a 10. századi objektumokkal,
melyek a kizárólag a magasabb
dombtetőn kerültek elő.
Közel 200 objektum sorolható az avar
korba, számos gödröt, árkot, házat tártunk
fel. A házak viszonylag kis méretűek, átlagosan
3–4 × 2–3 méteresek voltak, a telepen
belül rendszertelenül helyezkedtek
el. Előfordult, hogy közvetlenül egymás

were sometimes used as fi replaces. Close
to the contemporary ground level, an oven
was dug into the side and the fi ll of a large
storage space composed of a group of pits
(feature no. 6826). It is interesting, at the
same time, that only a few outdoor ovens
came to light. We do not have any information
on above-ground buildings, which
were commonly missing in the period.
The few postholes that were discovered in
the area are not associated with either of
the periods.
Three huge complexes of 40–50 pits
were unearthed between the houses on
surfaces measuring 14–16 × 10–12 m.
these may have been clay extraction pits
(Fig. 13). They appeared on the surface
as a uniform brown discolouration, and
they were separated into distinct beehive-shaped
pits only at a depth of 1–1.5
m. In many cases temporary fi re places
were established in them, while later they
were used as refuse pits and the bodies of
dead animals were thrown into them.
