Prerequisite: Dental Technology 109 with a satisfactory grade.<br />

Lecture 2 hours. Lab 5 hours.<br />

Waxing single and multiple units by using PTC techniques and methodology<br />

based on student learning outcomes. Learning and understanding concepts<br />

such as: tooth contour alignment, functional and morphological occlusion.<br />

Applied techiques in spruing, investing and casting including soldering,are<br />

part of the course outline.<br />

DENTAL TECHNOLOGY 112<br />

Removable Partial Denture Prosthetics I<br />

2 UNITS - (A)<br />

Prerequisite: Dental Technology 103 with a satisfactory grade.<br />

Lecture 1 hour. Lab 3 hours.<br />

An introduction to the study of removable partial denture construction, use of<br />

the dental surveyor, design of the partial, waxing and casting techniques.<br />

Laboratory Internship<br />

2 UNITS - (A)<br />

Co-requisite: Dental Technology 207 or 208 with a satisfactory grade.<br />

Lab 6 hours.<br />

Opportunity to observe and work with a skilled dental technician in a dental<br />

office, clinic or dental laboratory. Opportunity to apply the knowledge and<br />

skills learned in the classroom in a dental office, clinic or dental laboratory<br />

for a minimum of 6 hours per week.<br />

Metal Ceramic Restorations<br />

2 UNITS - (A)<br />

Prerequisite: Dental Technology 206 with a satisfactory grade.<br />

Lecture 1 hour. Lab 3 hours.<br />

A course in metal ceramic restorations, including proprieties, design, manipulation,<br />

firing, staining, glazing, polishing, science of color and esthetics;<br />

single units and soldered splint porcelain fused to metal.<br />

Orthodontics<br />

3 UNITS - (A)<br />

Prerequisite: Dental Technology 112 with a satisfactory grade.<br />

Lecture 2 hours. Lab 2 hours.<br />

This course goes into the construction and repair of orthodontic and pedodontic<br />

appliances. Emphasis will be placed on pouring and trimming<br />

orthognathic study casts, wire bending techniques, soldering and welding<br />

techniques, and fabrication of various types of orthodontic appliances.<br />
