This course will enable students to gain first hand knowledge of their chosen<br />

career within the criminal justice systems, obtain letters of reference and learn<br />

Introduction to the Firearms Training System<br />

3 UNITS - (A)<br />

This five week course uses a computer simulator to test student’s abilities<br />

and reaction in shooting scenarios. Students will be placed in “real life” type<br />

situations and must determine to “shoot or don’t shoot.”<br />

Firearms Evidence Analysis<br />

3 UNITS - (A)<br />

A forensic course dealing with firearms and cartridge identification. This class<br />

offers a “Hands-on” approach through the use of experiments and microscopic<br />

comparisons.<br />

Traffic Collision Investigation<br />

3 UNITS - (A)<br />

This class will concentrate on investigating traffic collisions by identifying and<br />

interpreting forensic evidence as well as diagramming and measuring scenes.<br />

Special emphasis will be placed on understanding vehicle and pedestrian<br />

dynamics (behavior) associated after a collision.<br />

Financial Crimes Investigations<br />

3 UNITS - (A)<br />

This course will concentrate on the criminal and civil investigation techniques<br />

in dealing with the highly technical field of financial crimes. Topics include:<br />

forgery, credit card fraud, financial scams, fake identification fraud, computer<br />

fraud, Internet crimes and identification fraud (Social Security number). A must<br />

for students interested in law enforcement, private investigations and state<br />

investigation agencies.<br />

Basic course dealing with the nature of correctional work; aims and objectives<br />

of correctional administration; probation and practices; skills, knowledge<br />

and attitudes required for employment in this field; types of institutions and<br />

services; career opportunities.<br />

A study of the organization and programming used in juvenile and correctional<br />

institutions including their history and development.<br />

Legal <strong>As</strong>pects of Corrections<br />

3 UNITS – (A)<br />

This course concentrates on the legal aspects of corrections in regards to<br />

prisoner rights. It references Title 5 requirements involving the prisoners’ rights<br />

to legal services, medical care, confinement, disciplinary hearings, and visitation<br />

rights.<br />

<strong>LACC</strong> has a new and exciting Architecture Program with three primary<br />

objectives: 1) To prepare students for admissions and transfer into accredited<br />

architecture schools; 2) To prepare students with sufficient skills and<br />

knowledge for the job market in architecture, interior design, construction<br />

management, and construction; 3) To provide information and insight for<br />

those who simply want to learn something about architecture and design.<br />

We offer a full range of architectural courses, including instruction on the<br />

use of CAD and computer 3-D modeling as part of the design and drawing<br />

process.<br />

The architectural profession is very exciting field and currently is very strong.<br />
