Transfer limit: UCLA allows no credit for duplication of a foreign language if<br />
the student completed in high school the equivalent levels with a satisfactory<br />
grade; A.A. Degree.<br />
AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE I<br />
4 UNITS - (UC:CSU)<br />
This is an introductory course designed to develop basic conversational skills<br />
using vocabulary and grammar of American Sign Language. Its emphasis is<br />
placed on receptive and comprehension skills. Incorporates vital aspects of<br />
the Deaf culture and community.<br />
AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE II<br />
4 UNITS - (UC[pending]:CSU)<br />
Prerequisite: American Sign Language I with a satisfactory grade of better.<br />
This course completes the study of elementary vocabulary and grammar.<br />
Increased development of inflectional and non-manual behavior patterns.<br />
Incorporation of selected aspects of Deaf culture and community within receptive<br />
and expressive conversation.<br />

Elementary Arabic I<br />

Advisory: English 28/31 or equivalent.<br />
Pronunciation, grammar, practical vocabulary, useful phrases; basic facts<br />
on the geography, customs and culture of the Arabic speaking world.<br />
ARABIC 2<br />
Elementary Arabic II<br />
5 UNITS – (UC:CSU)<br />
Prerequisite: Arabic 1 with a satisfactory grade or equivalent.<br />
This course completes the elementary Arabic grammar begins the reading<br />
and writing of elementary texts, emphasizing the spoken language.<br />

Intermediate Arabic I<br />

Prerequisite: Arabic 2 with a satisfactory grade or equivalent.<br />
An introduction to Arabic thought by means of short stories, essays, poetry,<br />
and folk songs emphasis on conversation, reading and oral comprehension.<br />

This course stresses the fundamentals of pronunciation and elementary grammar,<br />
