Technology (CSIT) is “CO SCI”. If you have a talent for math and science<br />

our programs will prepare you to enter more advanced university programs<br />

or directly enter careers related to Computer and Information Systems,<br />

System Analysis, Computer Science, Database Administration, Computer<br />

Operations, Information Processing Services, Computer Software<br />

Engineering, Telecommunications, and Web Development and<br />

Technologies. According to the Department of Labor median hourly<br />

earnings for high demand occupations in technology and other computer<br />

fields at the entry levels range from nearly $12/hour to $26/hour. With<br />

advance training and or a Bachelors degree, salaries can exceed $42/<br />

hour.<br />

PR OGRAMS<br />

The Computer Science Information Technology discipline program at <strong>Los</strong><br />

<strong>Angeles</strong> City College offers two <strong>As</strong>sociate degrees that students can choose<br />

from depending on their career and educational goals. The first, <strong>As</strong>sociate<br />

of Science in Computer Science, is designed for students with transfer<br />

goals to the Computer Science program at four-year universities. The<br />

second, an associate of science in Computer Information Systems, is<br />

designed to prepare students for careers in exciting Information Technology<br />

fields such as programming, software engineering, database administration,<br />

computer networking, multimedia, and web technologies. Students with<br />

interest in transferring to the Information Systems program at four-year<br />

universities should consult with the Computer Science department for<br />

needed course work. The following tables list the requirements for each<br />

degree. For information on general education courses, students are<br />

encouraged to see a counselor for advisement.
