satisfactory grade or equivalent.<br />

ACCOUNTING<br />

ACCOUNTING 1<br />

Introductory Accounting I<br />

5 UNITS - (UC:CSU)<br />

Prerequisite: Completion of Business 38 or Accounting 31 with a satisfactory<br />

grade or better.<br />

Credit allowed for only Accounting 1 or Accounting 21 with Accounting 41<br />

and Accounting 22 with Accounting 42. Accounting 1 is intended for transfer<br />

students. All others should consider taking Accounting 21 with Accounting<br />

Introduction to fundamental accounting principles and concepts. Includes<br />

analysis and recording of various business transactions in the journals and<br />

ledgers; preparation of basic financial statements of service and<br />

merchandising firms; detailed study of cash receivables, inventory, plant<br />

assets including depreciation; intangible assets and amortization; payables;<br />

payroll and related payroll taxes.<br />

ACCOUNTING 2<br />

Introductory Accounting II<br />

5 UNITS - (UC:CSU)<br />

Prerequisite: Accounting 1 or 22 with a satisfactory grade or better.<br />

Continues the introduction to fundamental accounting principles and concepts<br />

including the recording of transactions unique to partnerships and<br />

corporations. Preparation of cash flow statements, financial analysis and<br />

interpretation and introduction to basic cost accounting concepts and<br />

procedures.<br />

ACCOUNTING 12<br />

Auditing<br />

3 UNITS - (CSU)<br />

Co-requisite: Accounting 4 with a satisfactory grade or better.<br />

The principles of auditing and the steps to be followed in conducting an<br />

audit, preparation of audit working papers and audit reports, and solution of<br />

an audit case.<br />

ACCOUNTING 15<br />

Tax Accounting I<br />

3 UNITS - (CSU)<br />

Prerequisite: Accounting 1 with a satisfactory grade or better.<br />

Tax laws, accounting procedures required in the preparation of Federal and<br />

California State income tax returns for individuals. Can be utilized to meet<br />

the basic qualifications for registering as a tax preparer and the continuing<br />

education requirements of the California Tax Preparer Act.<br />

ACCOUNTING 16<br />

Tax Accounting II<br />

3 UNITS - (CSU)<br />

Prerequisite: Accounting 15 with a satisfactory grade or better.<br />

This course includes tax laws, accounting procedures, and preparation of<br />

income tax returns for corporations, partnerships, estates, and trusts. Estate<br />

and gift tax laws, and preparation of related returns are also discussed.<br />

ACCOUNTING 17<br />

Payroll Accounting<br />

2 UNITS - (CSU)<br />

Advisory: English 28/31 or equivalent.<br />

Concerned with procedures and practices involved in a firm’s payroll system,<br />

includes familiarizing students with current State and Federal laws with<br />

respect to computation of regular and overtime pay, withholding of payroll<br />

taxes, computation of employer’s payroll taxes, and the preparation of payroll<br />

tax returns and reports.
