1 UNIT<br />

The Licensed Vocational Nurse will develop higher level skills necessary<br />

to make a successful transition to the role of RN student to pursue an RN<br />

license. The student will synthesize and apply theoretical and clinical<br />

knowledge including critical thinking, nursing process, assessment and<br />

documentation, and the administration of IV fluids<br />

and IV medications.<br />

from novice graduate to Registered Nurse in the Pediatric Nursing specialty.<br />

The student will progress in role development, under preceptor guidance,<br />

Residency Program.<br />

Prerequisite: Nursing, Registered 151 with a satisfactory grade.<br />

The student will progress toward leadership and independent practice<br />

6 UNITS – (A)<br />

Prerequisite: Physical Exam, Health clearance, Negative Tuberculin Test<br />

or Chest X-Ray, fingerprint clearance.<br />

Entry-level position into health care, caring for residents in acute care/<br />

skills nursing facilities with a variety of health disorders. The core concepts<br />

follow the guidelines of the Department of Health Services, with emphasis<br />

to principles of safety; infection control; physical, emotional and social<br />

support.<br />

Personal care services; 4) Nutrition; 5) Cleaning and care tasks in home.<br />

The Counseling Department offers life-skills courses providing students<br />

with opportunities to increase their potential for academic success, and<br />

in their future careers. Personal Development courses introduce students<br />

to <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong> City College programs and services, develop students’<br />

learning strategies, assist students with planning educational goals, and<br />

provide career/major exploration for undecided students. The Counseling<br />

Department believes that students should take time early in their college<br />

life to develop a comprehensive plan to meet their interests, values,<br />

abilities, and goals, improve their time-management skills and adopt other<br />

behaviors key to their success in college and beyond.<br />

through a systematic approach to career development by examining values,<br />

interests, skills, life roles, personality type, personal self-management,<br />

decision-making and goal-setting throughout the life span.<br />

This course will explore issues related to higher education that impact student<br />

Community College District policies and procedures, ethics and responsibility,<br />

diversity in higher education, educational strategies and planning,<br />
