endurance. Students should be able to swim 50 yards without stopping in<br />

deep water using the freestyle stroke and rotary breathing. Class sessions<br />

consist of instructor directed, organized swimming workouts. At the first<br />

pool session, an assessment of swimming ability will be conducted to ensure<br />

minimum skills for participation.<br />

beginning student who wants to learn more about equipment needs, new<br />

climbing areas, restrictions, and techniques for safe climbing. This class is<br />

created to accommodate first time climbers as well as those with some indoor<br />

rock climbing experience. The class is designed to be fun and challenging<br />

with the main emphasis on movement and self-esteem building. Students<br />

will develop muscular strength and endurance and improve their<br />

cardiovascular system.<br />

Walking for Fitness<br />

This course focuses on achieving cardiovascular fitness and a healthy lifestyle<br />

through walking. Course topics include posture, gait, walking styles, strength<br />

and flexibility, proper clothing, nutrition and nutrirional aides, creating a walking<br />

program and fitness assessments.<br />
