The Metric System<br />

1 UNIT - NDC<br />

This course will introduce students to the concepts of the metric system<br />

such as length, perimeter, and area. Depending upon the diagnostic assessment,<br />

students will be placed in an appropriate metric system program.<br />

Students may enroll through the twelfth week of semester. This course is<br />

open to all students. Grades are on a credit/no-credit basis.<br />

Mathematics Fundamentals<br />

3 UNITS - (RPT 3) NDC<br />

Individualized review of basic mathematics skills involving whole number<br />

properties, order of operations, exponents, prime numbers, fractions,<br />

decimals, p ercents, ratio and proportion, simple geometry, statistical<br />

graph analysis, and signed numbers. Depending upon the diagnostic<br />

assessment, students will be placed in an appropriate program. Students<br />

may enroll through the twelfth week of the semester. This course<br />

is open to all students. Grades are on a credit/no-credit basis.<br />

Elementary Algebra<br />

5 UNITS - (RPT 3) NDC<br />

Individualized review of basic algebra skills including the language of<br />

algebra: equations and inequalities, polynomials, factoring; rational expressions;<br />

graphing and inequalities; linear equations; exponents and<br />

radicals; quadratic equations. Depending upon the diagnostic assessment,<br />

students will be placed in an appropriate program. Students may<br />

enroll through the twelfth week of the semester. This course is open to<br />

all students. Grades are on a credit/no-credit basis.<br />

Overcoming Math Anxiety<br />

3 UNITS - (RPT 3) NDC<br />

This course is designed to reduce math anxiety and build selfconfidence<br />

so that math concepts will be comprehensible. This<br />

course is open to all students and offered in a small group setting.<br />

Depending upon the diagnostic assessment, students will be placed in<br />

an appropriate program: LS15A-basic Mathematics, LS15B-<br />

Elementary Algebra, and LS15C-Intermediate Algebra. Students<br />

may enroll through the twelfth week of the semester. This course is<br />

open to all students. Grades are on a credit/no-credit basis.<br />

Theory & Practice of Tutoring<br />

3 UNITS - NDC<br />

This course is designed to provide theory and practice in tutoring sessions.<br />

Also, tutor training will be provided in each tutors discipline. Students may<br />

enroll through the twelfth week of the semester. This course is open to all<br />

students. Grades are on a credit/no-credit basis.<br />

effectively at the workplace.<br />

This course will explore the nature of learning disabilities, and the laws,<br />

accommodations, and services available for academic improvement. Through<br />

assessment, students will discover personal learning strengths and weakness<br />

to develop a plan for academic success. Eligibility for support services<br />

will be determined.<br />

Study Strategies for the Learning Disabled<br />

3 UNITS - (RPT 2) NDC<br />

This study skills class is specifically designed for students with learning disabilities<br />

who need multi-sensory techniques and strategies for coping with<br />

the demands of the college’s academic curriculum. Enrollment is intended<br />

for students with current functional limitations that impede or prevent the<br />

student from benefiting from their academic classes without this foundation<br />

and support.<br />

This course is specifically designed for students with verified disabilities who<br />

require training with adaptive computer modifications and/or assistive technology<br />

using keyboarding, word processing, database management and other<br />

appropriate applications. Enrolling is intended for students with current functional<br />

limitations that require individually-paced training.<br />
