The English Literacy & Citizenship Program provides an integrated program PRIMARY LEVEL<br />
of services incorporating English literacy and civics education to prospective ESL AND CIVICS 2 011CE<br />
United States citizens, students, and members of the community. The classes<br />
provide English language instruction and knowledge on the rights and<br />

U. S. history and government with the appropriate English vocabu-<br />

English language. Students will be exposed to a variety of contexts which will troduces U. S. history and government with the appropriate English vocabu-<br />
prepare them for encounters in the real world. The exposure in turn will prolary and grammar structure for beginning English as a Second Language<br />
vide them with basic survival skills and assist them in the immersion into a<br />
predominately English speaking society.<br />

structures taught in the previous two classes, and serve as a continuation<br />
into ESL level 2. The four components of Literacy will be covered: listening,<br />
speaking, reading and writing. The emphasis on these fours skills will be<br />
contextualized in order for the students to grasp everyday conversations, and<br />
situations they may encounter while completing forms such as job applications<br />
and US CIS (INS) forms.<br />
