Applied Costuming for the Theatre<br />

Advisory: English 28/31 or equivalent.<br />

Practical experience in construction and maintenance of costumes for public<br />

theatrical presentation. Emphasizing: professional wardrobe/dressing room<br />

practices, construction, alteration, maintenance, repair, cleaning and storage<br />

of costumes. Students must be available for rehearsals and performances.<br />

THEATER 426<br />

Applied Costuming for the Theater Lab<br />

0 UNITS – (RPT 3)<br />

Co-requisite: Theater 425.<br />

Having been identified and developed through the pre-production phase of<br />

the costuming processes, the practical assignments in the various aspects<br />

of costuming are further explored and refined by the students during the<br />

dress rehearsals and performances of production.<br />

Beginning Stage Make Up<br />

2 UNITS - (UC:CSU)<br />

Techniques and practices of theatrical makeup design and application.<br />

Facial analysis, glamour, aging of the face, beards, stylized,<br />

and impersonation makeups are performed by the student on their own<br />

face. Topics include the use of makeup for film and television<br />

THEATER 285 Directed Study - 2 UNITS (CSU)<br />

Prerequisite: Theater 270 with a satisfactory grade.<br />

Allows students to pursue Directed Study on a contract basis under the<br />

The <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong> City College (<strong>LACC</strong>) Workforce Readiness Academy<br />

prepares limited English proficient, economically disadvantaged, and other<br />

non-traditional college students to attain the essential knowledge, skills<br />

and abilities to successfully acquire and retain employment, and to<br />

effectively explore, plan and establish career ladder pathways leading<br />

growth opportunities in high demand occupations.<br />

The focus of the Academy model is to designate participation in workforce<br />

education programs as the first step in the career ladder of success towards<br />

attaining economic self-sufficiency, with subsequent career ladder<br />

progression to credit, vocational education skills certificates, certificates,<br />

and associate degree programs.<br />

Academy education and training programs encompass over 20 non-credit<br />

Skills Certificates of Competency and Completion, and over 49 courses in<br />

Basic Education and Computing skills, English as a Second Language<br />

(ESL), Vocational ESL, Workforce Literacy and Job Readiness skills, and<br />

associated Short-Term Vocational Training for high demand jobs in high<br />

growth industries such as the healthcare, child development, hospitality<br />

and retail sectors. Other high demand Academy programs include<br />

Citizenship Services and Entrepreneurship skills training.<br />
