Current and graduated <strong>LACC</strong> students are entitled to use the job<br />
placement services of the College and those at all <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong> Community<br />
College District colleges. A job board listing current offerings in the<br />
<strong>LACC</strong> service area is located outside the Student <strong>As</strong>sistance Center.<br />

The Learning Skills Center (LSC) provides the opportunity for students to<br />
improve their basic study skills in mathematics and language arts.<br />
Students may register for classes in the LSC up through the first fourteen<br />
weeks of the semester. One-unit classes are offered on an open entry/<br />
open exit basis and can be taken as credit/non-credit. (Credit for<br />
individualized, self-paced, open entry/open exit courses may not be<br />
counted as part of a student minimum load in qualifying for benefits until<br />
the courses have been completed.)<br />
Programs are individualized and developed on the basis of diagnostic<br />
tests administered to each student to determine his or her academic<br />
needs. A student‘s program is designed to include self-paced instruction,<br />
instructor-student conferences, and peer tutoring sessions. Emphasis is<br />
placed on the improvement of basic skills in reading, vocabulary, study<br />
skills, writing, grammar, basic mathematics, and algebra. Tutoring in most<br />
subjects is available. The LSC also offers small group classes in<br />
conversation, speech, resume writing, and math anxiety.<br />

A library brochure and instructor-requested orientations are available<br />
through the Reference Center. Two one-unit courses are offered: LS 101<br />
Library Research Methods and LS 102 Internet Research Methods.<br />
Individual questions are welcomed at the Reference and Circulation/<br />
Periodicals Desks. Students must use their valid college identification<br />
card to qualify for library privileges. When the library is closed, materials<br />
may be returned through the outside chute located on the front of the<br />
building.<br />

The Office of Special Services (OSS) is one of the student services at <strong>Los</strong><br />
<strong>Angeles</strong> City College designed to provide educational support and access<br />
to programs for currently enrolled students. A variety of programs and<br />
services are available to eligible students with disabilities, providing them<br />
the opportunity to fully participate in <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong> City College’s programs<br />
and activities through appropriate and reasonable academic accommodations.<br />
Provision of these accommodations allow students with disabilities equal<br />
access to all aspects of their education, however students must master all<br />
competencies required by Title B of the California Educational Code and<br />
comply with the Student Code of Conduct adopted by <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong> City<br />
College.<br />
The following OSS offices are located in Clausen Hall 109: Counseling,<br />
ACL, Tutoring, the High Technology Center, and Learning<br />
Disabilities Services. Additional counseling is available in the main<br />
Counseling Office.<br />
Services provided include but are not limited to: information and<br />
referral, advocacy and liaison, academic counseling, learning disability<br />
assessment, special education and learning skills classes, high<br />
technology center, sign language interpreter, readers, note takers,<br />
captioning and Braille transcription.<br />

Disabled Parking<br />
Disabled parking spaces are available in all college designated<br />
parking lots. Any vehicle parking in a college disabled parking space<br />
must display a State of California issued Disabled Parking Placard or<br />
they will be issued a citation.<br />
Closed Captioning<br />
Federal laws require that all instructional videos be closed captioned<br />
to ensure that all students have full access to instructional material.<br />
Academic Departments needing to close caption existing videos<br />
should contact OSS. Any new instructional videos purchased by the<br />
college must meet this requirement.<br />
