Field Work I<br />

3 UNITS – (RPT 1) (CSU)<br />

Co-requisite: Psychology 1 or Psychology 43.<br />

Lecture 1 hour. Field Work 5 hours per week.<br />

This course is designed to orient the student to the field of Human Services.<br />

The primary emphasis is on observations of the application of interpersonal<br />

relationship skills in community settings. This class is intended for students<br />

new to Human Services fieldwork. Basic counseling and communication<br />

skills will be taught.<br />

Field Work II<br />

3 UNITS - (CSU)<br />

Prerequisite: Psychology 81 with a satisfactory grade or equivalent.<br />

Lecture 1 hour. Field Work 5 hours per week.<br />

This is a continuation of Field Work I in which there will be more student<br />

participation, under supervision, at various facilities in the community that<br />

offer Human Services.<br />

Prerequisite: Psychology 82 with a satisfactory grade or equivalent.<br />

This course is an advanced course in Field Work which is designed to give<br />

the student more specialized participation in Human Services. This class is<br />

intended for the advanced student of the generalist option of Human Services.<br />

Fieldwork I – Drug/Alcohol<br />

3 UNITS<br />

Co-requisite: Psychology 1 and Psychology 43.<br />

Drug/Alcohol Studies. The primary emphasis is on the observations of the<br />

community settings. This class is intended for students new to Human<br />

Prerequisite: Psychology 1 with a satisfactory grade plus one additional<br />

course in Psychology and signature of instructor.<br />

Conference 1 hour per unit.<br />

Allows students to pursue Directed Study on a contract basis under the<br />

direction of a supervising instructor. Refer to the "Directed Study" section of<br />

this catalog for additional information.<br />

Credit Limit: A maximum of 3 units in Directed Study may be taken for credit.<br />

Career Program<br />

Radiologic Technology is a health care profession whose practitioners work<br />

in hospitals, clinics, free standing imaging centers, and private offices. The<br />

Radiologic Technologist (Radiographer) is a member of the health care team<br />

who works directly with the patient and the physician performing a wide variety<br />

of diagnostic x ray procedures. The Radiographer must be proficient in the<br />

knowledge of radiographic exposure, anatomy, patient positioning, the<br />

operation of specialized equipment, and in the care and management of the<br />

patient. The rapid expansion of medical diagnostic imaging has greatly<br />

increased the diversity and utility of medical diagnosis. A career in Radiologic<br />

Technology offers vast opportunities for advancement.<br />

The Radiologic Technology curriculum is accredited by the Joint Review<br />

Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and the State<br />

of California, Department of Health Services. The clinical educational centers<br />

are accredited by the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Health Care<br />

Organizations (JCAHO). <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong> City College is accredited by the<br />

Western <strong>As</strong>sociation of Schools and Colleges.<br />

Students who complete the curriculum, including the clinical education<br />

requirements, will be eligible to take the certification examinations prepared<br />

by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the State of<br />

California, Department of Health Services, Radiologic Health Branch.<br />

An advisory committee, composed of Radiologists, Radiologic Technologists,<br />

Radiology Administrators, Clinical Instructors and Student Technologists,<br />

cooperates with the College faculty and administrators in continuous<br />

curriculum development, evaluation, and revision.
