Supervised Learning <strong>As</strong>sistance<br />

0 UNITS - NDC<br />

Prerequisite: Enrollment in any course at <strong>LACC</strong>.<br />

Upon faculty/counselor referral, students will receive tutoring in designated<br />

subject areas in the Learning Skills Center. Cumulative progress and attendance<br />

records will be maintained for this non-credit, open-entry/open-exit<br />

course. No tuition will be charged nor will grades be received for enrollment<br />

in this course.<br />

This course provides students with various note-taking methods and techniques<br />

for recording information for later recall and study purposes. Effective<br />

note taking skills will prepare students to take test. A placement test will<br />

be given to all students. Students may enroll through the fourteenth week of<br />

the semester. (Credit/No Credit)<br />

Transfer Program<br />

The Liberal Arts degree is designed for students planning to transfer to a<br />

four year college/university, including the California State University (CSU)<br />

and the University of California (UC) system. This degree provides a wellrounded<br />

academic education in the liberal arts and sciences.<br />

The Liberal Arts degree consists of the following: 1) general education requirements,<br />

2) 18 units in an area of emphasis, and 3) electives, for a total<br />

of 60 units.<br />

• Select one of the three options to meet general education requirements:<br />

Option 1. <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong> City College Plan A General Education<br />

(30 units min.).<br />

Option 2. CSU GE Breadth Certification (39 units min.). Option 2 must<br />

include a health course (CSU GE - Area E). Option 2 must<br />

also include one physical education/dance activity course.<br />

Option 3. IGETC Certification (37 units min.). Option 3 must include<br />

American Institutions/Government requirement. Option 3<br />

must also include a health and physical education/<br />

dance activity course.<br />

Social and Behavioral Sciences<br />

These courses emphasize the perspective, concepts, theories and<br />

methodologies found in the social and behavioral sciences. Students will<br />

study about themselves and others as members of a larger society. This<br />

pattern emphasizes the contributions and perspectives of men, women and<br />

members of various ethnic and cultural groups and a comparative perspective<br />

on both Western and non-Western societies.<br />
