RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE
OF A GRA AWAR IN CONJUCTION WITH
THE JERSEY CITY PAR COALITION FROM
THE HUSON COUNY OPEN SPACE TRUST
FUND FOR THE PERSIlG FIELD mSTORIC
ARCH PRESERVATION
offered and moved adoption
WHREAS, the Hudson Cowity Open Space Trust Fund ("County Trut Fund"),
provides grts to mwiicipal governents and grants to nonprofit organizations for
assistace in the acquisition and development of lands for outdoor recreation and
conservation puroses; and
WHREAS, the award for the Pershing Field Historic Arch Preservation was approved
wider Freeholder Resolution 327-8-2007 and fuer amended on October 21,2009; and
WHREAS, the amendment provides that the City of Jersey City wil complete the
terms of the agreement on behalf of the Jersey City Parks Coalition; and
WHREAS, the City of Jersey City and the Jersey City Parks Coalition can execute the
originl grant ters through the term of the agreement ending August 13, 2011; and
WHREAS, the City of Jersey City would like to accept the fuds as a co-grtee on
behalf of the Jersey City Parks Coalition from the Hudson County Open Space Trust
Fund for the puroses of acquing, preserving, and maintaining open space with the
City and
WHREAS, ths grant wil assist in restorig the Four Regiment Arch, Historic Bell
Sculptue and flagpole, and Mayor Fra Hague and Goveror A. Harr Moore Bronze
Plaques located in Pershing Field Park; and
WHREAS, the acceptance of this grant wil enhance efforts by the City of Jersey City
to create recreational resources and historic preservation for the residence and tourst of
Jersey City.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOL YED, by the Muncipal Council of the City of
Jersey City:
i. Jerriah T. Healy, Mayor and/or Brian O'Reily, Business
Administrtor, are hereby authoried to execute a contract and/or grt
agreement with the Hudson Cowity Open Space Trust Fund Grt
Program; and
2. The Offce of Management and Budget is authoried to establish an
account in the amount of $25,000 for the Pershig Field Historic Arch
Preservation.
