RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONTRACT TO RELISTAR
LIFE INSURCE COMPAN TO PROVIDE STOP GAP
INSURACE FOR EMPLOYEES AN RETIREES AS AN
EXTRAORDINARY UNSPECIFIABLE SERVICE

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Municipal Council of the
ci ty of Jersey Ci ty that:

1. Subject to such modification as may be deemed necessary
or appropriate by Corporation Counsel, the Mayor or
Business Administrator is authorized to execute the
contract attached hereto with Relistar Life Insurance
Company to provide stop gap insurance for active
employees and retirees for a term of one year (1)
beginning January 1, 2010 and expiring on December 31,
2010.
2. The total cost to the city for the one (1) year contract
is One Million Seven Hundred Eighty Thousand
($1,780,000. OOl' Dollars.
3. The contract is authorized as an EUS pursuant to N.J.S.A.
40A: 11-5 (1) (a) (iil ,N. J. S .A. 40A: 11-5 (1) (m), and for the
reasons stated in the EUS certification executed by the
Business Administrator and attached hereto.
4. The contract shall contain a clause making the
continuation of the contract after the expenditure of
funds encumbered in the 2010 fiscal year temporary budget
subject to the appropriation of sufficient funds in the
2010 fiscal year permanent budget and in subsequent
fiscal year budgets.
5. Upon certification by an official or employee of the
city authorized to attest that Reliastar Life Insurance
Company has provided services in accordance with the
contract, then; payments to the contractor shall be made
in accordance with the Local Fiscal Af fairs Law, N. J. S . A.
40A:5-1 et ~
6. A copy of this resolution shall be published in a
newspaper of general circulation in the City of Jersey
City as required by law within ten (10) days of the
adoption of this resolution.
7. The award of this contract shall be subj ect to a
condition that Reliastar Life Insurance Company provides
satisfactory evidence of compliance with the applicable
Affirmative Action amendments to the Law Against
Discrimination, N.J.S.A 10:5-31 et ~
