m<strong>an</strong>or of Salford Priors (including Cock Beving<strong>to</strong>n <strong>an</strong>d Dunning<strong>to</strong>n) was held by the<br />

Skipwith family until 1790 when it was purchased by the Marquess of Hertford. The<br />

m<strong>an</strong>or was probably enclosed by agreement in the early eighteenth century, except<br />

Dunning<strong>to</strong>n Heath which was enclosed in1783. Names associated with the m<strong>an</strong>or of<br />

Salford Minor or Abbots Salford were St<strong>an</strong>ford, Sheldon, Berkeley <strong>an</strong>d Eys<strong>to</strong>n. Wood<br />

Beving<strong>to</strong>n was held by St John’s College, Oxford <strong>an</strong>d leased <strong>to</strong> the Archer family until<br />

1791 when it passed in<strong>to</strong> the family of the Marquess of Hertford, who also <strong>to</strong>ok over the<br />

m<strong>an</strong>or of Pophills in 1812, previously held by the Rawlins family.<br />

Weethley - a very small parish of 642 acres, greatly depopulated before the seventeenth<br />

century; Warwick de<strong>an</strong>ery, Worcester diocese; Alcester Division of Barlichway Hundred,<br />

Warwickshire, <strong>an</strong>d Alcester Union. Alcester (post) 3, Evesham 8. On the Ridgeway.<br />

M<strong>an</strong>or of Weethley held by the Fortescues of Cookhill, then Jennens <strong>an</strong>d Curzon family.<br />

The soil is clay. Maybe included in the lost enclosure award of Kinwar<strong>to</strong>n in1803.<br />

Welford-on-Avon - a parish of 3130 acres lying in a me<strong>an</strong>der of the Avon, including the<br />

large village of Welford <strong>an</strong>d the hamlets of Bickmarsh <strong>an</strong>d Little Dorsing<strong>to</strong>n; Campden<br />

de<strong>an</strong>ery, Gloucester diocese. Chiefly in the upper division of Deerhurst Hundred,<br />

Gloucestershire, but Bickmarsh <strong>an</strong>d Little Dorsing<strong>to</strong>n were in Barlichway Hundred,<br />

Warwickshire; Stratford Union. Alcester 5, Stratford 4, Bidford 4, Chipping Campden 9.<br />
