Studley - a large parish of 4322 acres on the River Arrow including Skilts, Washford,<br />

Littlewood Green <strong>an</strong>d Mappleborough Green; Warwick de<strong>an</strong>ery, Worcester diocese;<br />

Alcester Division of Barlichway Hundred, Warks., <strong>an</strong>d Alcester Union. Alcester (post) 4,<br />

Redditch 3, Henley 5, Birmingham 13. Import<strong>an</strong>t roads through the parish include those<br />

from Alcester <strong>to</strong> Birmingham <strong>an</strong>d Bromsgrove, <strong>an</strong>d one from Henley <strong>to</strong> Bromsgrove.<br />

M<strong>an</strong>or of Studley held by the Knottesford family until 1766 <strong>an</strong>d then by the Knight family<br />

of Barrels near Henley-in-Arden. A separate m<strong>an</strong>or of Studley St Johns was held by<br />

various families from1660 <strong>to</strong> 1860 including Hub<strong>an</strong>d, Chambers <strong>an</strong>d Holyoake. Skilts in<br />

the north of the parish was held by the Sheldon <strong>an</strong>d then the Will<strong>an</strong> families. The lords of<br />

the m<strong>an</strong>or of Studley Hay (which included Mappleborough Green) were the Gage <strong>an</strong>d<br />

Shelley families. The m<strong>an</strong>orial divisions in Studley are complex <strong>an</strong>d other m<strong>an</strong>ors included<br />

Gattacks, Gorcott <strong>an</strong>d Studley Castle. Enclosure award 1824.<br />

Tardebigge - a very extensive parish of 9555 acres on the Arrow, including Bentley<br />

Pauncefoot (Upper <strong>an</strong>d Lower), Hewell, Sheltwood, Webheath, Bordesley, Redditch <strong>an</strong>d<br />

Tutnall <strong>an</strong>d Cobley <strong>an</strong>d part of Blackwell, Crabbs Cross <strong>an</strong>d Headless Cross; Droitwich<br />

de<strong>an</strong>ery, Worcester diocese; upper division of Halfshire Hundred, Worcestershire,<br />

although Tutnall <strong>an</strong>d Cobley was in the Alcester division of Barlichway Hundred,<br />

Warwickshire until 1832. Part Alcester <strong>an</strong>d part Bromsgrove Union.<br />

In 1855 a new<br />

ecclesiastical parish of Redditch was formed, although the chapelry of Redditch had kept a<br />
