One of the four major regions of the cerebral cortex.
The temporal lobe is chiefly involved in auditory
processing. It is also important for the processing of
semantics in both speech and vision. In relation with
the hippocampus the temporal lobe plays a key role
in the formation of long-term memory.
Testosterone is a steroid hormone. It is the principal
male sex hormone and an anabolic steroid. On
average, an adult human male body produces about
ten times more testosterone than an adult human
female body, but females are more sensitive to the
hormone. The relationship between testosterone and
aggression in humans has been examined in many
studies, but the results are not conclusive.
Ventromedial Prefrontal Cortex. Area of the PFC
close to the area of the OFC. Persons with lesions in
the OFC and/or VMPC have difficulties with
empathy, control over emotions and the weighing of
risks.
White matter is one of the two components of the
central nervous system and consists mostly of
myelinated axons. Neurons with myelinated axons
communicate faster and more accurately. The other
component of the central nervous system is gray
matter.
