Q: When should I start giv<strong>in</strong>g my baby supplementary foods?<br />

A: Until 6 months <strong>of</strong> age, exclusive breastfeed<strong>in</strong>g is best. When the baby is 6 months<br />

old, it is time to start giv<strong>in</strong>g him supplementary foods, such as cereals, fruits, fruit juice,<br />

etc. Cont<strong>in</strong>ue breastfeed<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> comb<strong>in</strong>ation with supplementary foods for as long as<br />

possible, at least two years is good. Do not give formula, and do not use feed<strong>in</strong>g<br />

bottles. The baby can be weaned gradually directly from the breast to the cup.<br />

Q: What is proper nutritional advice for nurs<strong>in</strong>g mothers?<br />

A: It is important for nurs<strong>in</strong>g mothers to eat a healthy and varied diet with plenty <strong>of</strong><br />

every day. They should dr<strong>in</strong>k plenty <strong>of</strong> water and avoid alcohol and cigarettes. Many<br />

mothers f<strong>in</strong>d that nurs<strong>in</strong>g an <strong>in</strong>fant helps them rega<strong>in</strong> their pre-pregnancy figure<br />

quickly.<br />
