Factors which <strong>in</strong>fluence the choice <strong>of</strong> visual aid. The visual aid must be:<br />

• adapted to the teach<strong>in</strong>g/facilitation method used<br />

• available (<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g necessary equipment)<br />

• portable<br />

• sufficiently <strong>in</strong>terest<strong>in</strong>g to attract and ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong> group attention<br />

6. How can I evaluate the effectiveness <strong>of</strong> my session?<br />

• Dur<strong>in</strong>g the session:<br />

o Observe the audience to see if the subject <strong>in</strong>terests them and if they<br />

understand the message.<br />

o Ask open questions to assess what they have learned/what the message<br />

meant to them.<br />

o Ask a member <strong>of</strong> the group to resume what has been said.<br />

• After the session:<br />

o See if the number <strong>of</strong> people attend<strong>in</strong>g future sessions <strong>in</strong>creases.<br />

o See if people come to you after the session for more <strong>in</strong>formation<br />

o Ask yourself if the group does what you had anticipated <strong>in</strong> your objective for<br />

the session.<br />

o Ask yourself: "How can I improve?"<br />
