This manual was developed for a special category <strong>of</strong> community workers, <strong>Roma</strong> <strong>Health</strong><br />

<strong>Mediators</strong>, tak<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>to consideration their pr<strong>of</strong>essional roles, and the cultural<br />

environments <strong>in</strong> which they work; and <strong>in</strong>volved persons who pioneered the <strong>Roma</strong> <strong>Health</strong><br />

<strong>Mediators</strong>’ program from its conception to the present.<br />

We would like to thank Mrs. Mariana Buceanu and Mr. Daniel Rădulescu for their<br />

cont<strong>in</strong>uous support and recommendations dur<strong>in</strong>g the process <strong>of</strong> develop<strong>in</strong>g this tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>in</strong>creas<strong>in</strong>g access to health services by the <strong>Roma</strong> population, and that this will <strong>in</strong> turn lead<br />

to an improved health status for the <strong>Roma</strong> community.<br />
