what may be beh<strong>in</strong>d what she says; to br<strong>in</strong>g out her needs, problems, concerns,<br />

values and choices)<br />

o Speak simply and m<strong>in</strong>imize unnecessary explanations.<br />

o Establish a rapport between new ideas and the woman’s exist<strong>in</strong>g knowledge and/or<br />

experience, associate the unknown with the known<br />

o Repeat important and/or difficult <strong>in</strong>formation & concepts (us<strong>in</strong>g examples)<br />

o Emphasize the essential<br />

o Be careful about try<strong>in</strong>g to conv<strong>in</strong>ce the woman <strong>of</strong> your po<strong>in</strong>t <strong>of</strong> view or giv<strong>in</strong>g her<br />

solutions to her problems<br />
