Convicted<strong>of</strong> racketeering and weapons violations in 1985, Ellison later became astate’s witness in the federal sedition trial <strong>of</strong> other right-wing extremistleaders held at Fort Smith in 1988. After serving his sentence, heremarried, taking as his new wife the granddaughter <strong>of</strong> Richard G.Millar, the head <strong>of</strong> the Elohim City sect, whose members also adhereto the millennialist and Identity Christian doctrines followed by Ellisonand others in the U.S. white separatist movement.Following the Oklahoma City bombing, which McVeigh hadtimed to coincide with Snell’s execution, investigators and reporterssought to find some material link between McVeigh and the CSA butfound no evidence <strong>of</strong> a direct connection.CROATIAN NATIONAL RESISTANCE. Also known as the CroatianFreedom Fighters, this was a nonstate group that sought Croatia’sindependence from Yugoslavia. This group carried out seventerrorist actions against Yugoslavian diplomatic and commercialtargets abroad, causing one death and three injuries. Its most spectacularaction was the 10 September 1976 hijacking <strong>of</strong> Trans WorldAirlines (TWA) Flight 355, a Boeing 727, en route from New Yorkto Chicago, which the five hijackers diverted to Newfoundland, fromthere to Iceland, and ultimately to Paris with all <strong>of</strong> its 81 passengersaboard. In addition, the terrorists had planted a bomb in Grand CentralStation whose location they would only reveal after authoritiespublished communiqués <strong>of</strong> the group. After authorities complied andthe bomb’s location was revealed, one policeman, Brian J. Murray,was killed and another wounded when they tried to deactivate it. Thegroup claimed to have several such bombs, which they displayedduring the hijacking and which they threatened to explode if their demandswere not met. In reality the devices they displayed were madeonly <strong>of</strong> Silly Putty and the only actual bomb was the one left in NewYork. After they learned that the bomb in New York had explodedand killed a policeman, the hijackers surrendered in Paris.While the leader <strong>of</strong> the hijackers <strong>of</strong> TWA Flight 355, ZvonkoBusic and his wife, Julienne Busic, were both convicted on U.S.federal charges <strong>of</strong> air piracy and murder in May 1977 and sentencedto life imprisonment, Julienne Busic was released from prison onlifelong parole in 1989; her husband was released from prison in July2008 and sent to Croatia.
